I stumbled upon the idea of a true Sunday and what it meant to me, only recently. (Yes, I'm a Sunday newbie, stick with me). I'm the Co-Founder & CEO of WineSociety and being in a startup, my Monday to Saturday is very jam-packed. I always set out with the intention of incorporating a workout, or a well-cooked meal but before I know it I have worked a 12-hour day and it's already Thursday! Phew. So, I went into Sunday slightly bleary eyed not knowing what I wanted to get out of it, but knew the main goal was to recharge my batteries and reboot my hard drive before another work week. The more I Sunday-ed the more I fell in love with the little routine I was building, without even knowing I was doing so. It was as if I let my soul take charge of that day of the week and it happily galloped forward with its own plans. Now, Sunday's are for working out, resting, taking time to do the simple things, exploring new neighborhoods and cooking scrumptious meals. Here's how I Sunday.

It was as if I let my soul take charge of that day of the week and it happily galloped forward with its own plans.

I tend to wake up early, even on Sundays so instead of fighting it I actually embrace the solitude of my apartment before my husband wakes up. I have learned to appreciate space alone, and find it quite liberating to have a little morning that no one else knows about. (Well, now you all do. Ha ha). Comfort is so important to me and as San Fran can be a little chilly in the AM; I am loving my new furry UGG Slippers. I slowly start my day with my beauty routine to truly wake up. I start by cleansing with a bit of Glossier’s Milky Jelly and scrub scrub scrub using FOREO'S Luna Fofo, which I just got from my Fab Fit Fun Box and I am so in love with it. It leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated! Since Sunday's are a little slower, I take time out to really tend to my skin. So, post-wash I lather on some Glam Glow Supermud and let it do its thing while I sip on some coffee. Once that's rinsed off, on goes my SHISEIDO Benefiance Wrinkle Resist Eye Cream, Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer and Balm Dotcom

Coffee still in hand, I light the LE LABO SANTAL 26 candle which, by the way, is not only the best thing ever, but also played a part in WineSociety's packaging inspiration as they make the wrapping a thoughtful experience. With a few deep breaths, I then take 10 minutes to meditate using the Headspace App, as I simply adore the inbuilt voice and it always sets me up for a great day. By the time I have gently come out of my meditation, my other half is awake so on goes the music. The soundtrack for my Sunday has recently been Spotify's "Your Favorite Coffeehouse" playlist. It's gentle and inspiring and makes for a great, lazy backing track when cooking breakfast.

So, you may think it odd but I really didn't like tomatoes, ever, until my friend Emily introduced me to heirloom tomatoes, and suffice to say my life was turned around. One of our favorite dishes to make on a Sunday morning is an Heirloom Tomato and Fresh Basil Frittata. It's DELISH and beautiful!

After a lingering breakfast, I finish getting ready. I like to keep my makeup simple and light-weight on Sunday's so I start by applying the Juice Beauty Perfecting Concealer to camouflage my tired eyes. I have rosacea so I tend to always wear a thin veil of MAC's Studio Fix Foundation or a BB Cream - it makes me feel a little more confident. Next up is my favorite NAKED Smokey Eye Palette - there is a light rose color (combust) which I love and use all over, followed by a thin winged eyeliner and light coat of mascara. To finish I dab a light touch of bronzer and blush, voila!

I absolutely love living in California, I am such an outdoorsy person and I'm at my happiest when I'm outside. The sun and water are my friends and I wouldn't have it any other way. Running is my favorite exercise. I always try to go for a run on Sundays, and my ideal route is starting near our condo in SOMA and taking the Embarcadero up to The Exploratorium for a quick run, or if I am feeling energized I let my legs take me to Fisherman's Wharf where I can work on agility and dodge the tourists. :) Fun fact: My friends joke with me about it, but I always run with my hair down as I love to feel the wind through it, it makes me feel freer. If Paris my dog, and I are running together, I always plan a playdate at the park as a bonus. The alternative to running on a Sunday is a lovely walk with my husband. We start near our apartment and stroll toward The Embarcadero and stop off at a few bars or restaurants. Coqueta has the cutest little bites and I will always swing by the Ferry Building to get a sweet treat from Miette - their macarons are heaven. If in the mood, we’ll check out the oysters at Fisherman's Wharf.

Dinner plans usually depend on what we found on our travels. We usually improvise depending on the produce that catches our eye and conjure up something lite and yummy like fish or chicken with lots of fresh veggies. The soundtrack to Sunday dinner is usually a mix of reggae, and while that hums away in the background we cozy up on our balcony, with a glass of wine and watch the bright dancing lights of Bay Bridge. To end the evening, we relax on the couch while Paris cozies in between us and indulge in a light-hearted movie classic like Talladega Nights or dive into our favorite Netflix show, Billions. I could get used to this Sunday thing, and I have learned that no matter how busy you are, it is important to take time for yourself and other things you enjoy. Having a day of rest can do wonders for the rest of your week.
